My Blurb:
A not so well off yet intelligent math major, Brynn, decides to buy a cup of coffee to a stranger in the middle of a snowy weather. Wanting to know more of the girl who showed him kindness, Eliot, a rich and brilliant math professor, comes looking for her. A student-teacher relationship grows as they know more each other. Eliot, though, still doubts if he is ready to love again due to the wound of his past. As Cinderella finds her Prince Charming, Brynn is uncertain if she’ll end up with Eliot and have a happy ever after.

“The kiss, that’s what changes everything. In fairytales, that is. The prince kisses the princess, and suddenly she is awake after all these years, or brought back to life, or gets her voice back. Or the princess kisses the prince and he is transformed from a hideous creature into a handsome man, waiting to dash her into his arms.”

My thoughts

The story has a nice twist of the Cinderella story, focusing more on Cinderella and the Prince, without the godmother, stepsisters, and singing mice. I was delighted by the math conversations, remembering my high school lessons about theorems and how I really enjoyed them before.

I find Brynn, very strong, intelligent and inspiring. Despite the circumstances of her life; being poor and having only her grandmother, she doesn’t let life mess her up. She’s witty, knows what she wants and fights for what she believes in. Eliot, is a truly a Prince Charming and a math geek yet I find him a stupid coward at times. He still hangs on his past that he can’t accept what’s in front of him but I’m glad he eventually opens his eyes to reality.

Brynn and Eliot’s relationship is nice. It is not disgusting or weird for a student-teacher relationship since respect is there. The ending is insufficient especially regarding the math problem. I feel that the road to the end was made in a hurry. I also get confused who’s POV is who because of the book’s formatting.

All in all, I like the book. It is very interesting, sweet and gives new a new taste of a ‘rags to riches’ fairytale. Aubrey Rose, the author, did a good job.
“Don’t let your head get in the way of your heart.”

P.S. I received a copy of this book for an honest review.
